I keep this thing in my bag at all times now. I love shooting at twilight but i hate having to lug a tripod but sometimes you just cant hold the camera steady long enough. I kept this mini tripod in the water bottle holder of my bag at all times when i was in france and it completely saved the day on more than one occasion. My real tripod got some use too but most of the time, i just didn’t have it with me. This one is small enough to keep with you where ever you go.

I used this tripod to do extended exposure shots from the eiffel tower where i couldn’t have had a real tripod if i wanted to.

The build quality is really quite surprising. I couldnt decide if i should carry this one or one of the more trendy gorilla pods. I ended up buying both and the gorilla has gone almost completely unused. The gorilla SLR model just cant carry enough weight to hold my camera so it’s usefullness is limited. This mini tripod is completely made of metal and feels amazingly sturdy. I mount a small manfroto ball head on it and it works great. The legs aren’t long enough to allow me to tilt my Pentax K-5 with the battery grip in portrait orientation but it works perfectly when setup in landscape. (the problem is that the camera’s weight is so far from tripod mount when on it’s side that it tips the tripod over. An l-bracket would solve that but i dont have one at the moment.

Either way, i highly recommend carrying one of these you.
