- Ball-locking system with RC4 Rapid Connect Plate; ideal for larger-based medium-and large-format cameras allows you enough room for long heavy lenses
- Hydraulics create super-tight lock from a minimal turn of the locking knob
- Lightweight, but supports heavy camera loads up to 35 pounds
- Independent pan and tilt locks with a 360-degree pan and +90 to -90 degree tilt
- Oversized ball-locking knob for easy control even when using gloves
Designed to give optimum support and surface area to larger-based medium-and large-format cameras, the 468MGRC4 incorporates the same “world first” hydraulicball-locking system as the 468MG, and uses Manfrotto‘s heavy-duty RC4 Rapid Connect plate. This plate system is already used on many of Manfrotto‘s studio photography heads, such as the 405, 410 and 329RC4. Using hydraulics instead of a mechanical system produces a super-tight lock froma minimal turn of the locking knob, without sacrificing

Manfrotto 468MG Hydrostatic Ball Head,
The Manfrotto 468MGRC4 Hydrostatic Ball head a dream. It only requires slight pressure by twisting the knob and it locks the head. No locking and having the camera and lens slowly drift as you’re trying to make a shot because of not enough locking torque. The quality is built into every aspect of this head, with a magnesium die cast body it can support a load up to 35lb. The head allows panning and with a release of the ball, one can choose any elevation as well as rotate the lens/camera 90 deg. left or right of center.
I choose the RC4 mounting system. It provides a larger base with added support for a lens and comes with a safety lock, preventing accidental releases and thus possible dropping. It also comes with bobble levels on the top and another on the side. The previous head I owned had the RC2 mount, which I didn’t like–not enough support and accidental release possible. The 468MG can be purchased with 6 different mounts configurations, from–RC0-RC5.
Other reviewers have said that this head is heavy. I don’t agree. Its weight to load weight is comparable to others costing twice the price without the Hydro fluid system. It will mount to any tripod with a 3/8″ male post [head has 3/8" female socket]. My tripod also has three (3) set screws on the bottom to help lock the head once screwed onto the post.
I spent months looking at ball heads, some costing 2 to 3 times the cost of this head. I purchased this head because of the quality and cost. I have other Bogen/Manfrotto hardware and have never been disappointed. I made the right choice.

|The best ball head I ever had,
This ball head is a dream to use. Really smooth, with a positive blocking. I used with 50-200 mm tele, and also with en Opteka 650-1300mm long teleobjective.
The RC4 plate is very useful with the biggest lenses and you feel really secure, for the way it looks.

|Broke after 2 weeks,
This head was great for 2 weeks then it stopped locking right while I was out on a shoot. I am not impressed. Arranging repairs is a hassle and not what I planned for when I bought Manfrotto brand
